The Spaces In Which We Learn and Grow
Our beautiful campus sits in the west of Kathmandu, near Swayambu, on the hill just below Tergar Osel Ling Monastery overlooking the south of the valley towards Chobar and Pharping. All over the campus you will find vegetables growing, colourful flowers blooming, trees bearing fruit and nuts, areas for play, areas for learning, and areas for all ages of our community to find rest and peace. Our resident animals provide us with love, warmth, and useful resources - Uma and Zemma, our resident dogs. Sheep for wool to spin, dye, and weave. Goats for milk. And ducks for eggs and happiness!
Abiding Heart Home
Heart House is home to a variety of purposes. Our meditation room, art studios, small classrooms, Heart Cafe, library & offices all live here. On most days you will find students stone carving, working in clay, drawing, Thangka painting, weaving, resting with some tea or a cool drink, snacking on local Nepali snacks and homemade cake. Meditation groups, student well-being, guidance support, and meetings are surrounded by the experiences we have encountered and created while deepening all the time our understanding of Buddhist Dharma.
Kindergarten Training Hall
Our Kindergarten Teacher Training degree programme takes place primarily here. It is set up as a typical international Waldorf kindergarten, one that can be found all over the world, and is fully equipped with natural fibered dolls, wooden blocks and toys made from trees cleared from our own land, swathes of local fabric and silks for dress up, and locally made furniture. This is created so as to provide as tangible an experience as possible to all trainees.
New Construction of Abide Lodge
The next building to be constructed at Abiding Heart for housing new classrooms, and will be a wooden structure so as to be more environmentally conscious. The expected start date of construction is this winter.
